David Howells 67bcc5e530 assoc_array: Fix a buggy node-splitting case
commit ea6789980fdaa610d7eb63602c746bf6ec70cd2b upstream.

This fixes CVE-2017-12193.

Fix a case in the assoc_array implementation in which a new leaf is
added that needs to go into a node that happens to be full, where the
existing leaves in that node cluster together at that level to the
exclusion of new leaf.

What needs to happen is that the existing leaves get moved out to a new
node, N1, at level + 1 and the existing node needs replacing with one,
N0, that has pointers to the new leaf and to N1.

The code that tries to do this gets this wrong in two ways:

 (1) The pointer that should've pointed from N0 to N1 is set to point
     recursively to N0 instead.

 (2) The backpointer from N0 needs to be set correctly in the case N0 is
     either the root node or reached through a shortcut.

Fix this by removing this path and using the split_node path instead,
which achieves the same end, but in a more general way (thanks to Eric
Biggers for spotting the redundancy).

The problem manifests itself as:

  BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 0000000000000010
  IP: assoc_array_apply_edit+0x59/0xe5

Fixes: 3cb989501c ("Add a generic associative array implementation.")

Eric Biggers f9e7e2d605 lib/digsig: fix dereference of NULL user_key_payload
commit 192cabd6a296cbc57b3d8c05c4c89d87fc102506 upstream.

digsig_verify() requests a user key, then accesses its payload.
However, a revoked key has a NULL payload, and we failed to check for
this. request_key() *does* skip revoked keys, but there is still a
window where the key can be revoked before we acquire its semaphore.

Fix it by checking for a NULL payload, treating it like a key which was
already revoked at the time it was requested.

Sergey Senozhatsky 1c0891295a lib/ratelimit.c: use deferred printk() version
commit 656d61ce9666209c4c4a13c71902d3ee70d1ff6f upstream.

printk_ratelimit() invokes ___ratelimit() which may invoke a normal
printk() (pr_warn() in this particular case) to warn about suppressed
output. Given that printk_ratelimit() may be called from anywhere, that
pr_warn() is dangerous - it may end up deadlocking the system. Fix
___ratelimit() by using deferred printk().

Stephan Mueller 31decdcd83 lib/mpi: kunmap after finishing accessing buffer
commit dea3eb8b452e36cf2dd572b0a797915ccf452ae6 upstream.

Using sg_miter_start and sg_miter_next, the buffer of an SG is kmap'ed
to *buff. The current code calls sg_miter_stop (and thus kunmap) on the
SG entry before the last access of *buff.

The patch moves the sg_miter_stop call after the last access to *buff to
ensure that the memory pointed to by *buff is still mapped.

Greg Kroah-Hartman 529ada21ff lz4: fix bogus gcc warning
When building lz4 under gcc-7 we get the following bogus warning:

  CC [M]  lib/lz4/lz4hc_compress.o
lib/lz4/lz4hc_compress.c: In function ‘lz4hc_compress’:
lib/lz4/lz4hc_compress.c:179:42: warning: ‘delta’ may be used uninitialized in this function [-Wmaybe-uninitialized]
    chaintable[(size_t)(ptr) & MAXD_MASK] = delta;
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^~~~~~~
lib/lz4/lz4hc_compress.c:134:6: note: ‘delta’ was declared here
  u16 delta;
      ^~~~~
This doesn't show up in the 4.4-stable tree due to us turning off
warnings like this.  It also doesn't show up in newer kernel versions as
this code was totally rewritten.
So for now, to get the 4.9-stable tree to build with 0 warnings on x86
allmodconfig, let's just shut the compiler up by initializing the
variable to 0, despite it not really doing anything.
To be far, this code is crazy complex, so the fact that gcc can't
determine if the variable is really used or not isn't that bad, I'd
blame the code here instead of the compiler.
Sudip Mukherjee d12824c897 lib/Kconfig.debug: fix frv build failure
[ Upstream commit da0510c47519fe0999cffe316e1d370e29f952be ]
The build of frv allmodconfig was failing with the errors like:
  /tmp/cc0JSPc3.s: Assembler messages:
  /tmp/cc0JSPc3.s:1839: Error: symbol `.LSLT0' is already defined
  /tmp/cc0JSPc3.s:1842: Error: symbol `.LASLTP0' is already defined
  /tmp/cc0JSPc3.s:1969: Error: symbol `.LELTP0' is already defined
  /tmp/cc0JSPc3.s:1970: Error: symbol `.LELT0' is already defined
Commit 866ced950b ("kbuild: Support split debug info v4") introduced
splitting the debug info and keeping that in a separate file.  Somehow,
the frv-linux gcc did not like that and I am guessing that instead of
splitting it started copying.  The first report about this is at:
  https://lists.01.org/pipermail/kbuild-all/2015-July/010527.html.
I will try and see if this can work with frv and if still fails I will
open a bug report with gcc.  But meanwhile this is the easiest option to
solve build failure of frv.
commit c743f0a5c50f2fcbc628526279cfa24f3dabe182 upstream.
More users for for_each_cpu_wrap() have appeared. Promote the construct
to generic cpumask interface.
The implementation is slightly modified to reduce arguments.
Nikita Yushchenko 9d00195bc0 swiotlb: ensure that page-sized mappings are page-aligned
[ Upstream commit 602d9858f07c72eab64f5f00e2fae55f9902cfbe ]
Some drivers do depend on page mappings to be page aligned.
Swiotlb already enforces such alignment for mappings greater than page,
extend that to page-sized mappings as well.
Without this fix, nvme hits BUG() in nvme_setup_prps(), because that routine
assumes page-aligned mappings.
Ilya Matveychikov 7c679fe729 lib/cmdline.c: fix get_options() overflow while parsing ranges
commit a91e0f680bcd9e10c253ae8b62462a38bd48f09f upstream.
When using get_options() it's possible to specify a range of numbers,
like 1-100500.  The problem is that it doesn't track array size while
calling internally to get_range() which iterates over the range and
fills the memory with numbers.
David Miller b355b899c7 crypto: Work around deallocated stack frame reference gcc bug on sparc.
commit d41519a69b35b10af7fda867fb9100df24fdf403 upstream.
On sparc, if we have an alloca() like situation, as is the case with
SHASH_DESC_ON_STACK(), we can end up referencing deallocated stack
memory.  The result can be that the value is clobbered if a trap
or interrupt arrives at just the right instruction.
It only occurs if the function ends returning a value from that
alloca() area and that value can be placed into the return value
register using a single instruction.
For example, in lib/libcrc32c.c:crc32c() we end up with a return
sequence like:
        return  %i7+8
         lduw   [%o5+16], %o0   ! MEM[(u32 *)__shash_desc.1_10 + 16B],
%o5 holds the base of the on-stack area allocated for the shash
descriptor.  But the return released the stack frame and the
register window.
So if an intererupt arrives between 'return' and 'lduw', then
the value read at %o5+16 can be corrupted.
Add a data compiler barrier to work around this problem.  This is
exactly what the gcc fix will end up doing as well, and it absolutely
should not change the code generated for other cpus (unless gcc
on them has the same bug :-)
With crucial insight from Eric Sandeen.
Kees Cook a6a7d8ade8 usercopy: Adjust tests to deal with SMAP/PAN
commit f5f893c57e37ca730808cb2eee3820abd05e7507 upstream.
Under SMAP/PAN/etc, we cannot write directly to userspace memory, so
this rearranges the test bytes to get written through copy_to_user().
Additionally drops the bad copy_from_user() test that would trigger a
memcpy() against userspace on failure.
[arnd: the test module was added in 3.14, and this backported patch
       should apply cleanly on all version from 3.14 to 4.10.
       The original patch was in 4.11 on top of a context change
       I saw the bug triggered with kselftest on a 4.4.y stable kernel]
Daniel Borkmann 493d0a7be3 bpf, arm64: fix jit branch offset related to ldimm64
[ Upstream commit ddc665a4bb4b728b4e6ecec8db1b64efa9184b9c ]
When the instruction right before the branch destination is
a 64 bit load immediate, we currently calculate the wrong
jump offset in the ctx->offset[] array as we only account
one instruction slot for the 64 bit load immediate although
it uses two BPF instructions. Fix it up by setting the offset
into the right slot after we incremented the index.
Before (ldimm64 test 1):
  [...]
this test. Tested on Cavium ThunderX ARMv8. The added
Commit:
  aa1f1a6396 ("lib/syscall: Pin the task stack in collect_syscall()")
... added logic to handle a process stack not existing, but left sp and pc
uninitialized, which can be later reported via /proc/$pid/syscall for zombie
processes, potentially exposing kernel memory to userspace.
  -1 0xffffffff9a060100 0xffff92f42d6ad900
Colin Cross aaf78ec6c8 ANDROID: hardlockup: detect hard lockups without NMIs using secondary cpus
Emulate NMIs on systems where they are not available by using timer
interrupts on other cpus.  Each cpu will use its softlockup hrtimer
to check that the next cpu is processing hrtimer interrupts by
verifying that a counter is increasing.
This patch is useful on systems where the hardlockup detector is not
available due to a lack of NMIs, for example most ARM SoCs.
Without this patch any cpu stuck with interrupts disabled can
cause a hardware watchdog reset with no debugging information,
but with this patch the kernel can detect the lockup and panic,
which can result in useful debugging info.
Geert Uytterhoeven 41c6b3e898 swiotlb: Add swiotlb=noforce debug option
commit fff5d99225107f5f13fe4a9805adc2a1c4b5fb00 upstream.
On architectures like arm64, swiotlb is tied intimately to the core
architecture DMA support. In addition, ZONE_DMA cannot be disabled.
To aid debugging and catch devices not supporting DMA to memory outside
the 32-bit address space, add a kernel command line option
"swiotlb=noforce", which disables the use of bounce buffers.
If specified, trying to map memory that cannot be used with DMA will
fail, and a rate-limited warning will be printed.
Note that io_tlb_nslabs is set to 1, which is the minimal supported
value.
Al Viro d06367ac17 fix a fencepost error in pipe_advance()
commit b9dc6f65bc5e232d1c05fe34b5daadc7e8bbf1fb upstream.
The logics in pipe_advance() used to release all buffers past the new
position failed in cases when the number of buffers to release was equal
to pipe->buffers.  If that happened, none of them had been released,
leaving pipe full.  Worse, it was trivial to trigger and we end up with
pipe full of uninitialized pages.  IOW, it's an infoleak.
Dmitry Vyukov 828347f8f9 kasan: support use-after-scope detection
Gcc revision 241896 implements use-after-scope detection.  Will be
available in gcc 7.  Support it in KASAN.
Gcc emits 2 new callbacks to poison/unpoison large stack objects when
they go in/out of scope.  Implement the callbacks and add a test.
Chris Wilson f8ff04e2be lib/debugobjects: export for use in modules
Drivers, or other modules, that use a mixture of objects (especially
objects embedded within other objects) would like to take advantage of
the debugobjects facilities to help catch misuse.  Currently, the
debugobjects interface is only available to builtin drivers and requires
a set of EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL for use by modules.
I am using the debugobjects in i915.ko to try and catch some invalid
operations on embedded objects.  The problem currently only presents
itself across module unload so forcing i915 to be builtin is not an
option.
Michael Ellerman 2513940989 locking/selftest: Fix output since KERN_CONT changes
Since the KERN_CONT changes the locking-selftest output is messed up, eg:
Andrey Ryabinin f5527fffff mpi: Fix NULL ptr dereference in mpi_powm() [ver #3]
This fixes CVE-2016-8650.
If mpi_powm() is given a zero exponent, it wants to immediately return
either 1 or 0, depending on the modulus.  However, if the result was
initalised with zero limb space, no limbs space is allocated and a
NULL-pointer exception ensues.
Fix this by allocating a minimal amount of limb space for the result when
the 0-exponent case when the result is 1 and not touching the limb space
when the result is 0.
This affects the use of RSA keys and X.509 certificates that carry them.
Babu Moger e6b5f1be7a config: Adding the new config parameter CONFIG_PROVE_LOCKING_SMALL for sparc
This new config parameter limits the space used for "Lock debugging:
prove locking correctness" by about 4MB. The current sparc systems have
the limitation of 32MB size for kernel size including .text, .data and
.bss sections. With PROVE_LOCKING feature, the kernel size could grow
beyond this limit and causing system boot-up issues. With this option,
kernel limits the size of the entries of lock_chains, stack_trace etc.,
so that kernel fits in required size limit. This is not visible to user
and only used for sparc.
Abhi Das 680bb946a1 fix iov_iter_advance() for ITER_PIPE
iov_iter_advance() needs to decrement iter->count by the number of
bytes we'd moved beyond.  Normal flavours do that, but ITER_PIPE
doesn't and ITER_PIPE generic_file_read_iter() for O_DIRECT files
ends up with a bogus fallback to page cache read, resulting in incorrect
values for file offset and bytes read.
Chris Wilson ae65a21fb8 lib/stackdepot: export save/fetch stack for drivers
Some drivers would like to record stacktraces in order to aide leak
tracing.  As stackdepot already provides a facility for only storing the
unique traces, thereby reducing the memory required, export that
functionality for use by drivers.
The code was originally created for KASAN and moved under lib in commit
cd11016e5f ("mm, kasan: stackdepot implementation.  Enable stackdepot
for SLAB") so that it could be shared with mm/.  In turn, we want to
share it now with drivers.
Daniel Mentz 62e931fac4 lib/genalloc.c: start search from start of chunk
gen_pool_alloc_algo() iterates over the chunks of a pool trying to find
a contiguous block of memory that satisfies the allocation request.
The shortcut
	if (size > atomic_read(&chunk->avail))
		continue;
makes the loop skip over chunks that do not have enough bytes left to
fulfill the request.  There are two situations, though, where an
allocation might still fail:
(1) The available memory is not contiguous, i.e.  the request cannot
    be fulfilled due to external fragmentation.
(2) A race condition.  Another thread runs the same code concurrently
    and is quicker to grab the available memory.
In those situations, the loop calls pool->algo() to search the entire
chunk, and pool->algo() returns some value that is >= end_bit to
indicate that the search failed.  This return value is then assigned to
start_bit.  The variables start_bit and end_bit describe the range that
should be searched, and this range should be reset for every chunk that
is searched.  Today, the code fails to reset start_bit to 0.  As a
result, prefixes of subsequent chunks are ignored.  Memory allocations
might fail even though there is plenty of room left in these prefixes of
those other chunks.
Dmitry Vyukov 02754e0a48 lib/stackdepot.c: bump stackdepot capacity from 16MB to 128MB
KASAN uses stackdepot to memorize stacks for all kmalloc/kfree calls.
Current stackdepot capacity is 16MB (1024 top level entries x 4 pages on
second level).  Size of each stack is (num_frames + 3) * sizeof(long).
Which gives us ~84K stacks.  This capacity was chosen empirically and it
is enough to run kernel normally.
However, when lots of configs are enabled and a fuzzer tries to maximize
code coverage, it easily hits the limit within tens of minutes.  I've
tested for long a time with number of top level entries bumped 4x
(4096).  And I think I've seen overflow only once.  But I don't have all
configs enabled and code coverage has not reached maximum yet.  So bump
it 8x to 8192.
Since we have two-level table, memory cost of this is very moderate --
currently the top-level table is 8KB, with this patch it is 64KB, which
is negligible under KASAN.
Here is some approx math.
128MB allows us to memorize ~670K stacks (assuming stack is ~200b).
I've grepped kernel for kmalloc|kfree|kmem_cache_alloc|kmem_cache_free|
kzalloc|kstrdup|kstrndup|kmemdup and it gives ~60K matches.  Most of
alloc/free call sites are reachable with only one stack.  But some
utility functions can have large fanout.  Assuming average fanout is 5x,
total number of alloc/free stacks is ~300K.
